Our Story

Bugyaal: A Tribute to the Himalayas' Natural Bounty

In the local dialect of Uttarakhand, ‘Bugyaal’ refers to the lush meadows nestled in the high-altitude regions, surrounded by towering mountains. These serene flatlands, also known as “nature’s own garden,” provide an ideal grazing ground for cattle and are cherished as places of peace and purity.

For the people of Uttarakhand, a Bugyaal is a sacred space, embodying the unspoiled beauty of the region’s flora and fauna. Inspired by this, our brand Bugyaal seeks to encapsulate the essence of Uttarakhand's indigenous foods, culture, and community.

At Bugyaal, we are deeply committed to our roots and a way of life that is simple yet profound. Our mission is to revive and share the forgotten foods of the Himalayas, bringing their nutritional value to light for the world to see. We believe there is an urgent need to reintroduce these traditional foods into modern conversations about health and nutrition, making them accessible to today’s urban lifestyles. This journey of rediscovery is what we call a “homecoming of forgotten foods.”

Our products are made with the utmost care, using clean, natural ingredients that stay true to their traditional origins. Taste is at the heart of what we do, but we never compromise on quality. Every product we offer is a tribute to the rich heritage of the Himalayas and the purity of its bounty.

Beyond food, Bugyaal is also a community-driven initiative. With mass migration being a harsh reality in Uttarakhand due to the lack of opportunities, we are committed to empowering rural women by creating jobs, providing them with skill development opportunities, and helping them achieve financial independence. These women are the soul of our brand, leading the way as they share the local produce and the ‘Pahadi way of life’ with the world.

Our Aim

Bugyaal aims to bring the indigenous produce of Uttarakhand to the forefront while weaving together the local community, especially women, into this journey of revival and empowerment.
